Sun coral is a threat to native species such as brain coral because it easily reproduces and becomes quite aggressive with native species. The sun coral has become a real pest in many parts of Brazil. Environmental monitoring of ship hulls from other countries has become a requirement of environmental agencies in the works carried out in Brazilian shipyards.
